Ban Gas Chambers in PA

Pet Preview

The following is a selection of animals currently available for adoption. Many

of the pets in the Adoption Center were rescued from a gassing shelter or

an abusive situation, hazardous environment, were unplanned or were just

not wanted anymore.  Every dog and cat leaving Diane's Adoption

Center MUST be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age. The only way to

reduce the number of animals being put to sleep in shelters is to stop

unwanted pets from being born in the first place. Call us at 610-970-7500 to

make sure the pet you seek is still here. Our pets are very lovable and find

homes fast. Are You ready to adopt?

These pups were unfortunately being starved. The daughter was feeding them the puppies and 3 adult dogs by throwing slop outside mixed with a very cheap dog food and whoever fought for it the hardest got to eat. The puppies are extremely food aggressive but with the way we feed here hopefully they will improve. coming 1-26-12

Adult Dogs

  • "Max" & "Sam"- are 7 yr. old neut. male Pomeranian/Pekingese mixes. They are brothers who grew up together in the same home. They are good with older children and smaller dogs. They haven't been around cats. The previous owner had to move and couldn't take them with her. They can be adopted together or apart.
  • Missy- Is a 5 yr. old soon to be spayed female Beagle/Jack Russell Terrier mix She is, paper trained, great with cats and small dogs, friendly, knows to sit, stay, and give her paw. She came in with Lacey and unfortunately their owner had to go into assisted living and couldn't take them with her.
  • Nizmo- is a Cattle Dog mix spayed female Her family had to move so she was staying outside on a chain at someone's house until we could take her. She was always an inside dog and lived with two now heartbroken kids and two Siamese cats.. She is about 1 year old. house trained, spayed, crate trained, vaccinated and very well mannered in the house. Just a love.
  • Gator -is a 2 yr. old Maltese/Yorkie/Poodle mix This little guy was rescued from a house of a known animal abuser. The dogs were being bred for drug-money. The animals were rescued when the owner was killed about 2 months ago in a drug fight. His widowed wife also abused was being evicted from her home and had nowhere but the shelter to go with her dogs. Gator would not be good with small kids he will bite when he get frightened. The wife said her recently deceased husband would torment him and then smack him in the face when he would bite him. He would do this over and over again until she would distract him and then she would  put him in her room and hide him.
  • Bullet-is approx. a 1 yr. old neut. male Basset Hound/Labrador mix This is  Bullet's "foster mom". Diane and I rescued him from "death row" at a high-kill shelter in North Carolina. Bullet is a wonderful and very unique dog.  He is quite large, weighs about 50 lbs, but is skinny so may get to be 60+ lbs.  Supposedly over a year old, he's full-grown but still has a lot of puppy behavior.  I doubt he was an indoor dog before he came to us because of his lack of training. He now walks nicely on a leash and will sit on command, but I have never had him off leash outside because I don't have a fenced-in yard. He is crated when I'm not home and at night, and barks sometimes, but is ok.  I also don't know if he was house-trained before, but has only had a few  accidents. He is fine with my other 2 dogs and really loves to play with my 6 yr. old Coonhound.  Though he likes my cats and is affectionate with them, I would not trust him 100% alone with them yet.  I have not had him with small children and though he would be friendly, because of his size he might be a little overpowering.
  • King - is approx. a 1 year old. American Bulldog. He is deaf and will need someone who can understand and work with his special needs. Unfortunately his owner can no longer keep him due to illness in the family and his need for companionship is not being met by the owners long absences. He cannot be crated but is housebroken. Playful and loving, he was in a home with small dogs and small children. Contact the store at 610-970-7500 if you are interested in potentially adopting King and are interested in meeting him.
  • Mia- is a 2 yr. old Beagle/Cattle Dog mix She was rescued from a high kill shelter pregnant. She was in a loving foster home with lots of kids, cats and other dogs.  She is crate trained/hsbkn. When she came to us she was very frightened of people but now her foster mom said she will just curl up and melt into your lap if give her some attention. The kids love her and even though she loved her puppies she never was nasty or protective around them towards people.
  • Lucy - is a 3-4 yr. old Chihuahua. She was rescued from a elderly man who was hoarding 36 dogs in his small home. His son took 5 of the female dogs to a veterinarians office to ask for their help in placing them and the veterinarian turned them over to various rescues. Lilly and Lucy came to our rescue upon arrival we realized that Lucy was very pregnant so she went right into a foster home. She is a wonderful little dog she is hsbkn. great with kids dogs , cats kids. She just loves everyone! When she goes to bed she will lift a towel and cover herself with up with it. She gave birth by c-section to 7 pups on 1-22-12

MORE DOGS IN URGENT NEED OF RESCUE                                   To see  pets in urgent need of rescue please visit A Shelter Friend, For Pete's Sake Rescue and A Voice For Pets. These sites belong to dedicated volunteers that rescue animals from shelters with a high kill rate.  Some of the shelters use inhumane methods of destroying unwanted pets such as gas chambers and heart sticks. Please help them get a transport to our adoption center. If you would like to save one of these animals please email me diane@ddpets.com so that I can arrange a transport.

Cats and Kittens

The potential for future behavioral and or physical effects can occur with declawing or tendonectomy surgery.  These cats often become nervous biters; more destructive to furniture; and many cats stop using the litter box.
